Vodafone have just revealed one of the best innovations in festival gadgets we've seen in a long time - the Booster Brolly.
Other than being caught in a stream of revellers while trying to find your mates and sheltering from the rain, running out of battery on your phone could be the worst thing to happen during a weekend of music and mud.
So rather than queueing for an age and handing your phone over to get juice from a suspicious charging boothsVodafone have been working on a revolutionary solution.
They have developed a rather exciting multi-purpose Booster Brolly which is promises to keep your phone topped up with battery for the whole festival.
The gadget is set to be trialled at the Isle of Wight Festival in two weeks time.
The Booster Brolly works with a wide range of mobile devices, charging a smartphone battery in under three hours.
The design allows for one handset to charge through a USB port in the brolly handle. However, any friends making calls from under the canopy could also benefit from the umbrella’s signal boosting functionality, as the 3G signal is wireless.
Danielle Crook, Director of Brand Marketing at Vodafone said:“We wanted to create a practical but high tech innovation that could genuinely improve a festival-goers experience.
"The concept Booster Brolly does just that by merging cutting edge technology with a trusted and reliable British umbrella.”
At the moment the idea is only a prototype which has been created in partnership with University College London but Vodaphone VIP customers will be able to test the device from June 22nd at the Isle of Wight Festival.
Vodafone VIP customers can go to some of the biggest festivals in the UK this summer, including the Isle of Wight Festival, Wireless, Reading and Leeds and T In the Park. If you want to become a Vodafone VIP then register at vodafone.co.uk/vip
