Shevchenko wants to end his career with Beckham and Henry in MLS

Andriy Shevchenko has opened the door to a move to America to play in the MLS, and the Ukraine striker hopes he can make the move happen sooner rather than later.
Shevchenko rediscovered his best form scoring both goals in Ukraine’s Euro 2012 opening game with Sweden to put the hosts top of Group D going into the second round of games on Friday.
And the Dynamo Kiev striker, who is married to an American model and named his firstborn son after Michael Jordan, hopes to prolong his career in the MLS and with the likes of David Beckham and Thierry Henry he believes the league will grow to a similar size of other major American sports.

'I’m very interested in playing there,' Shevchenko told Sports Illustrated.
'I’ve seen the level of the football every year is getting better and better. Also, I really like America. My wife is American, my children are Ukrainian-American.
'In a few years football can reach the same level as maybe baseball or basketball there. So many young kids are interested in football, and the people in America are starting to get interested too.'

But first on his mind is making sure Ukraine qualify for the knock-out stages of the tournament after their brilliant start which saw them come from behind to beat Sweden.
'It meant so many things,’ Shevchenko added. ‘It’s the first game, a historic game for Ukraine in a big competition, and we’re a host country. It’s a fantastic win. So many people came, and the whole country is watching and supporting us. Some people were crying because they were so happy.'
